• Tradical® Hemcrete for wall construction

Tradical® Hemcrete provides the filling and the insulation for timber-framed walls. The wooden frame can be completely encompassed by the Tradical® Hemcrete or the timber can be made visible on one or both faces, depending upon the dimensions of walling and timbers.
As well as being ideal for new construction, Tradical® Hemcrete is well suited for the renovation and repair of old timber-framed buildings as a viable and sympathetic replacement for the original wall in-fill.
One very important product feature is that the breathability brought by Hemcrete is continuously drying the wooden structure therby contributing to its longevity.
Among the important technical considerations for wall infilling materials, is that the excellent vapour permeability provided by Tradical® Hemcrete is continuously drying the wooden structure and thereby protecting it from deterioration mechanisms and extending its longevity. The light weight of Tradical® Hemcrete means that very lightweight timber framing and foundation structures can be used which reduces costs and construction time making Tradical® Hemcrete a very efficient building medium.
The high insulation of the Tradical® Hemcrete in-fill means that single wall structure provides sufficient insulation and does not require additional insulation and avoids the need for cavity wall construction. This makes construction speed and simplicity a very attractive feature of Tradical® Hemcrete construction. |

• Tradical® Hemcrete for floor screeding

Tradical® Hemcrete can be used for providing insulating floor slabs or screeds on all levels of a building. The low density, light weight material is ideal for upper levels.
Tradical® Hemcrete combines the low density (as low as 375 kg/m3) with excellent insulating properties, an exceptional elasticity (due to the composite effect of the hemp shiv and the lime matrix) and important vapour permeability. For these reasons and because of the simplicity of product placement (also possible with dry-spray machinery), Tradical® Hemcrete is a very practical solution for floors and floor screeding in both new build and renovation applications.

• Tradical® Hemcrete for renders & plasters

Tradical® Hemcrete products can be used for insulating renders onto common supporting substrate materials such as brick, block and concrete. To obtain the full benefits of the vapour permeability of Tradical® products, it is best applied to similarly vapour permeable substrates such as Tradical® Hemcrete walling. The surface of Tradical® hemp and lime products does not feel as cold to touch as ordinary concrete and this enhances the feeling of thermal comfort.
In addition, the Tradical® hemp and lime products have good sound insulation and acoustic properties. These properties are not only important in party wall situations but also for the enjoyment of good acoustics within each part of the building.
Application of Tradical® hemp and lime plasters and renders can be carried out either manually or dry-spray machine. The excellent workability and other installation characteristics of the products make them easy and quick to use. It is possible to build up thick layers in one application without having to wait for earlier layers to set.
The Tradical® hemp and lime render or plaster can be finished to a very pleasing and fashionable surface appearance. |

• Tradical® Hemcrete for roof insulation

Tradical® Hemcrete can be used for providing roof insulation within the thickness of the roof construction. The ultra low density, light weight material is ideal for saving energy and contributing to a high level of hydro / thermal comfort.
Tradical® Hemcrete combines the low density (as low as 220 kg/m3) with excellent insulating properties, an exceptional elasticity (due to the composite effect of the hemp shiv and the lime matrix) and important vapour permeability. For these reasons and because of the simplicity of product placement (also possible with dry-spray machinery), Tradical® Hemcrete is a very practical solution for roof insulation in both new build and renovation applications.
Tradical® Hemcrete is long lasting, does not shrink and is pest and fire resistant. These characteristics make the roof insulation very durable and cost effective. The material needs to be cast onto temporary shuttering as permanent impermeable shuttering would prevent the material from performing to its full capability. |
